Anything Goes Minimize
Synopsis -
The Story revolves areound Billy Crocker, a young Wall Street broker, who stows away on the S.S American in hopes of winning the heart of his beloved Hope Harcourt.
Crocker's boss, Yale graduate Elisha J. Whitney, is also on board, planning to relax before the tremendous sale of his own company's stock. Hope is on her way to England to be married to Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, a stuffy, hapless British nobleman.
Stowing away with Billy are "Moonface" Martin - a gangster labeled "Public Enemy 13" - and his friend Erma. The two have disquised themselves as a reverend and a missionary, repectively, after stranding the ship's real reverend back at the port.
On board, Crocker runs into his friend, nightclub singer Reno Sweeny, who resolves to help Billy win over Hope. Billy simultaneously learns the true identities of Moonface and Erma, and in exchange for his silence, they join the plot to break up Hope and Evelyn. As the show progresses, Hope, Evelyn, Billy, Reno, Elisha, Erma, and Moonface all end up in a variety of compomising positions with members of the opposite sex.

This show is sure to be a hit! Come out to your local High School PAC to see this classic comedic performance.

Special Opportunity Minimize
After performances in September, many would think that the show was done and over with. But think again! This year, Verona Area High School has been invited to perform their production of Anything Goes as the showcase performance at the Wisconsin High School Theatre Festival. So in November, the whole show will be packed up and moved to Stevens Point for two final performance's for high school theatre kids from all around the state.

Good Luck to the Cast and Crew of Anything Goes!!

Note from the Director Minimize
According to theatre legend, the title for this evening's production along with the title number of the show, originated in a moment of haste during a late night prodution meeting. As the story goes, an exasperated and over-worked member of the prodution team cried out "And just how in the hell are we going to end the first act?!" "At this point," responded one of the producers, bing more helpful than he realized, "anything goes!!" And the rest, as they say, is history.
Anything Goes is a delightful musical filled with some of Cole Porter's most memorable songs. The title of the show is an appropriate reflection of the zaniness of the story. The concept is simple - boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy finds girl and wins her back. In the interim, the stage is filled with a variety of colorful characters from gangsters to ministers, saints to sinners, and a furry little dog thrown in for good measure. So join us on our cruise. You may never experience another one like it!
I would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who helped out in some way with bringing this production to life. I am very grateful for the continued support of so many loyal individuals and organizations who contribute with their time and money to bring these productions to the VAHS Theatre stage. It may be an overused expression, but it is notheless tur: We simply could not do what we do without your support. On behalf of all the students on stage, backstage, and in the pit...
THANK YOU!
One final note: VAHS Theatre will be taking the show on the road for two final performances in mid-November as they have been invited to be the showcase production at the State High School Theatre Festival. Everything you see on stage will be trasported to the Sentry Theatre in Stevens Point for two shows presented for theatre students from throughout the state of Wisconsin. If you are interested in helping to support this event with your time or finances, please let us know. We need many volunteers to make this trip a reality.

Thank You!
Steve Nibbe, Director
